Co Curricular Activities

Co-curricular activities certainly play a very important role in a child ‘s education, widening its scope and making it meaningful. Each child is provided with an opportunity to choose from and take part in an activity of his/her liking. Talents are constantly developed and children get an opportunity to display them during CCA periods, Sports day, School Annual Day and at various inter-school competitions.

Activities

Field Trips

Children who experience holistic development during their school years grow up to become global citizens. As important as it is to learn Math and English, it is equally necessary that kids in school get proper education in life skills and are taken on trips. Giving equal weightage to both indoor as well as outdoor activities is what will make children well prepared for what lies outside in the real world.

In view of the same, various trips are being organised for the students of Nursery to grade 10. Along with all the fun activities, students gain a lot of knowledge by visiting these places.

Eyes on Nature Programme

The Eyes on Nature programme is an initiative towards environmental literacy organized by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Indian Institute of Science campus, Bangalore. Students from standard VIII participated in this 4 month long (June to September) programme where they studied the flora and fauna of Cubbon Park and Ulsoor Lake. The students also visited IISc where they were given intense training on carbon foot printing, calculation of dissolved oxygen in water bodies and the use of natural dyes. They presented their results on 20th October at IISC. they were appreciated for their interest and the work that they had done.

Field Trip to Bannerghatta

A field trip to RK mission, Shivanahalli, Bannerghatta was organized for standard VII on 26th November, 2016.The children were taken on a nature trail inside the forested area of Bannerghatta by naturalists from IISc. The students had some amazing things to say about their little adventurous trip. Dhakshak says “We were amazed by the many species of birds, butterflies, spiders and plants that we saw. We learnt a lot of biological terms and names of the various animals that we observed”

Shakthi recalls “We never thought learning could be so much fun”

The educational trip to the National Park taught the students that every organism, be it an ant or an elephant, is very important to maintain the delicate balance in nature.

Annual Day

The Annual Day provides a perfect platform for the students to display their acting and dancing skills. The theme of the Annual Days is different every time, keeping in the mind the varied interests of the student. Ample opportunity is given to the students to exhibit their artistic and creative talent.

Post School activities

Every child is gifted and is filled with unique qualities and talents that sets him or her apart from the rest. What is important is to identify, nurture and hone these innate talents and skills. If they are provided with ample encouragement and motivation to follow their dreams, nothing can stop them from carving a niche for themselves..
We have an unwavering belief in the intrinsic worth and potential of our students and our aim is to provide each and every student with opportunities to discover their true potential and excel in their chosen field. One of the best ways to help children enhance their skills is to provide them with a platform where they can pursue their passion. Keeping the varied interests of the students in mind, a wide range of after school activities have been organized.
Hiphop, Bharatnatyam, Theatre, Public Speaking, Guitar, Keyboard, Abacus and Vedic Math, Chess. Karate, Entreprenuership & Robotics

Atal Tinkering Lab

The students were given a challenge to build their own robot, with no restrictions attached!

In this era of technology, rapid developments are being made everyday especially in the field of electronics, where automation of dangerous tasks is the top priority.

This is how ATL (ATAL TINKERING LAB), a version of scientific innovation from young minds, finds a mark on NHPS.

Our students rose to the occasion in translating their creative and innovative skills in science and technology.  They utilized the facilities provided by the school and came up with successful projects which would benefit mankind and our country in particular.

Transport

Strong bonds of friendships are forged during these journeys. The journey can sometimes be long and tedious for the students. This can hamper their concentration level and their eagerness to learn. The comfort and safety of our students is of paramount importance to us. In order to ensure a comfortable and safe journey, New Horizon Public School introduced a fleet of luxury, AC buses this academic year.

These AC buses are new and comfortable. The children can relax and enjoy their time with their friends without being disturbed by the noises coming from outside. The children come to school feeling fresh and eager to begin a new day in school.

With this objective in mind, the latest addition to our facility is a well-equipped Life Skills Lab. It is almost a miniature home and work setup, put into one beautiful space with counters, furniture and all materials and amenities which can be utilized by the children to learn these everyday skills hands-on. We have planned supervised sessions with age-appropriate activities that will help children improve their fine motor skills, organizing skills and also teach them self-care, discipline, and functional skills, which in turn they will use on an everyday basis, and help them grow into organized, systematic and self-reliant individuals

Respected Madam,

I am writing this e-mail with immense happiness and gratitude. To see Niharica improve slowly and steadily has given me a lot of confidence that she will do well in her academics even in her higher classes. She now reads very well and independently. She also remembers things better. Her writing has improved as well.

I would like to thank you mam for your patience, understanding and encouragement. I would also thank the school management for having such a set up where the kids can be given special attention to improve in the areas that they are weak in.

Mam, I am sure that with your guidance Niharica will have a wholesome growth. Thank you once again.

Yours sincerely,
Malathy
