Researchers/ Psychologists have been extensively emphasizing on mental health and well-being. Lack of awareness about mental health and related concerns have led to stigma and misinformation. Ignorance and misconceptions have resulted in individuals experiencing mental health issues. In 2020 WHO (world health organization) estimated 1 in 8 individuals worldwide are suffering from mental health disorders. According to the reports by WHO India has the largest population of people suffering from mental health issues.
On the other facet growing recognition for mental health, it becomes our responsibility as individuals to take care of our well-being and seek help from professionals like Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Therapists, Counsellors. These professionals identify, assess, diagnose and treat emotional, psychological, behavioral problems through the means of different therapeutic approaches and techniques in the therapy sessions .
Hey you know what you don’t have to visit them only when problems arise. You may also work towards self-awareness, personal growth, decision making, increasing productivity, parenting, and much more. Remember it’s more than just talking . Come on don’t worry about how expensive it is ! Why not save up on two food orders or purchasing a dress less? Taking care of mind is as important as taking care of the body.
Let me take you through the latest developments in the sector – Due to increasing mental health crisis , Government of India announced National Tele Mental Health Programmme (NTMHP). The aim is to provide free and around the clock mental health services. The programme includes 23 mental health networks , with National institute of mental health and Neuro science (NIMHANS) being the nodal center and International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIITB) providing technology support. Technical support being provided by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bengaluru and National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHRSC). As per Mental Healthcare act 2017, mental illnesses are covered under insurance. Why not GOOGLE it up ?
Emotions are dozens; they include anger, contempt, enthusiasm, envy, fear, frustration, disappointment, embarrassment, disgust, happiness, hate, hope, jealousy, joy, love, pride, surprise, sadness and many more. Remind yourself it’s okay to feel it all. Thoughts are our ideas, beliefs and attitude towards ourselves and people. They can be shaped by our life experiences but a lot of times we are caught in overthinking. Don’t you think thoughts and emotions can influence the way we behave and act? All the factors need to be taken care of.
