Republic day is the day when India marks and celebrates the date on which the constitution of India came into effect.
Today we are all free human beings with an independent will, because of our freedom fighters and the framers of our constitution. We celebrate January 26 because it reminds us of the basic principles and laws of our nation and the powers and the duties of the government and its citizens. On the eve of 74th Republic day the celebrations in New Horizon Public School took place with patriotic fervor. The school building was decorated with national flags. All the students, teachers and non-teaching staff assembled at the school quadrangle at 8:15 am. The celebration commenced with the welcome of our respected Principal Ms Anupama Sethi, Ms Ekta Batra (Headmistress Primary Division), Ms Richa Bhatia (Coordinator High School) and Ms Shilpa P ( Coordinator Primary Division). This was then followed by hoisting of our Indian tricolor flag by our Principal to celebrate the freedom of our country. The students saluted the National Flag and sung the National Anthem. A cultural programme was organized by the students of primary division. It included an Invocation dance, speech, patriotic song, patriotic dance and vote of thanks. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity by their performances. The audience were enthralled by the mesmerizing performance of our primary New Horizonites.
We ended the programme with the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ by the teachers of New Horizon Public School. The songs powerful verses reminded us that every Indian no matter which state, religion, caste, gender he or she belongs to shares the same history, same present and the future. Jai Hind!
