Universal Children’s Day is a special occasion dedicated to celebrating the joy and innocence of childhood. NHPS delightfully organized a field trip to the “Model Heritage Village” (Rangoli Gardens) for the students of Pre-primary division (Nursery, LKG & UKG) on 20th, 21st and 22nd of November, 2023. This was a fantastic and educational experience for our kindergarten students, providing them with hands-on opportunity to learn about different aspects of a community in a fun and engaging way. This was a day that gave the children a brief introduction to the concept of a heritage village, explaining that it is a representation of how people lived in the past, showcasing traditional architecture, lifestyle, and cultural practices.
The teachers provided a guided tour of the Rangoli garden, pointing out traditional houses, tools, clothing, and other artifacts, explaining the significance of each element and how it reflects the culture and history of the community. The children got a chance to interact with local artisans who demonstrated skills which added a personal touch to the whole experience. Before departing for school, the teachers gathered the children for a brief reflection and discussion about what they learned during the field trip, encouraging them to share their favourite aspects and discoveries. This field trip has been a valuable opportunity for children to appreciate and respect different cultures, fostering a sense of diversity and historical awareness.
