Guru Purnima at NHPS: Honouring Teachers with Gratitude & Green Acts

spiritual and cultural importance of Guru Purnima
At New Horizon Public School, Guru Purnima was celebrated with deep reverence and warmth across all levels. Thoughtfully curated, age-appropriate activities were conducted to help students understand the cultural and spiritual significance of this auspicious day.
In the Pre-Primary Wing, a soulful storytelling session was held where teachers narrated engaging tales that introduced children to the concept of a Guru — a teacher, guide, and mentor who leads us from ignorance to knowledge. The stories also shared the origins of Guru Purnima, including the homage paid to Sage Vyasa, the revered compiler of the Vedas and author of the Mahabharata.
In the Primary section, students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their teachers by presenting handmade thank-you cards and thoughtful tokens of love. They also shared kind words and chanted shlokas, adding warmth and sincerity to the celebration that truly honoured their gurus.
In a parallel eco-friendly initiative, students of primary and secondary division planted saplings as a tribute to their Gurus — symbolising growth, care, and the nurturing role of teachers in shaping young minds. This green gesture was a powerful reflection of the values that mentors instill — values that take root and flourish over time.
Guru Purnima at NHPS was not merely a celebration but a meaningful journey of gratitude, emotional intelligence, reverence, and environmental consciousness, leaving a lasting impression on young hearts.
