Dengue Awareness Campaign

Dengue fever is a major public health issue in numerous tropical and subtropical regions around the world, with the potential for serious health consequences. To tackle the spread of this mosquito-borne illness, New Horizon Public School organized an extensive Dengue Awareness Campaign designed to inform and educate students and staff about the disease’s causes, symptoms, and effective prevention strategies.

The campaign featured an engaging workshop led by a qualified health professional from BBMP Hospital, who provided valuable insights into the biology of the dengue virus. Participants learned about the various species of mosquitoes responsible for transmitting the virus and the environmental conditions that facilitate its spread. The speaker emphasized the signs and symptoms of dengue fever, including high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, and the distinctive rash.

In addition to discussing the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, the health professional highlighted practical prevention measures, such as eliminating standing water in and around homes, using mosquito repellents, and wearing protective clothing. The campaign aimed to empower the school community with knowledge and encourage proactive measures to reduce the risk of dengue infection, ultimately contributing to the overall health and well-being of the community.
