Faculty Development Programme 2026

The new scholastic year at New Horizon Public School commenced with the divine blessings of Lord Ganesha, followed by inspiring addresses by our esteemed Vice-Chairperson, Ms. Sargam Manghnani, and Principal, Ms. Anupama Sethi, encouraging educators to embrace the academic year with renewed passion, dedication, and purpose.
To strengthen classroom excellence and empower educators with contemporary teaching practices, a series of enriching Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) were conducted across various disciplines and grade levels. These sessions focused on innovative pedagogies, curriculum understanding, behavioural support, communication skills, assessment strategies, and technology-integrated learning.
Highlights of the FDPs
  • The Commerce Workshop, led by Dr. Binu P. Paul and Dr. Shubhashree P. K. Acharya, focused on experiential learning, case studies, real-life applications, and digital tools to make commerce education more interactive and future-ready.
  • The Science Workshop conducted by Ms. Mahalaxmi provided valuable insights into CBSE, ICSE, and IGCSE curriculum frameworks, competency-based learning, HOTS questioning techniques, curriculum mapping, and innovative assessment strategies.
  • The English Workshop – Secondary Division, facilitated by Ms. Jennifer Deivanayagam, explored the evolution of the English language in India through engaging discussions and interactive activities.
  • An enlightening Kannada workshop, “Srujanathmaka Kannada Bhodane,” conducted by Mr. Ramesh Kashyap, introduced creative and student-centred approaches aligned with the vision of NEP.
  • Ms. Preeja Sreedhar conducted impactful sessions on Behavioural Support Strategies, self-awareness, coping mechanisms, and adapting to challenges in today’s VUCA and BANI world, equipping teachers with practical and empathetic classroom strategies.
  • A dynamic Communication Skills Workshop by Ms. Srikala enhanced verbal and non-verbal communication through roleplays, collaborative tasks, and interactive activities.
  • The Social Studies Workshop, facilitated by Ms. Gowri Mirle, encouraged innovative teaching methods using newspapers, visual aids, presentations, and activity-based learning to make classrooms more engaging and meaningful.
  • The Mathematics Workshop by Mr. Ramanujam of Azim Premji University and Mr. Sushobhan Majumder focused on problem-solving, mathematical exploration, origami-based learning, and critical thinking through hands-on activities.
  • The EVS/Science Workshop for Grades 1–5 by Ms. Janani Manu introduced the “5E Model,” evaluation techniques, and AI-enabled learning tools to promote curiosity, conceptual understanding, and experiential learning.
  • The English Workshop – Primary Division by Ms. Odella John focused on language skills, pronunciation, voice modulation, poetry teaching, vocabulary-building activities, and classroom-friendly strategies to make English learning interactive and enjoyable.
  • A workshop on Teaching Learning Material (TLM) was conducted by Ms. Mahalakshmi Bhaskar and Ms. Anita George for teachers of Grades 3 to 10. The session introduced innovative teaching strategies, Design Thinking Spaces, and concepts of Computational Thinking and AI (CTAI). Through hands-on activities and collaborative tasks, teachers explored project-based, inquiry-based, and competency-based learning approaches, gaining valuable insights into creating more interactive, student-centred classrooms that foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
These Faculty Development Programmes stand as a testament to NHPS’s unwavering commitment to continuous professional growth, innovation, and educational excellence. By empowering educators with modern teaching tools and meaningful learning experiences, the school continues to nurture an environment of lifelong learning and holistic education.
